Approach
Dr. Newsome has a special interest in supporting helping professionals combat compassion fatigue to increase psychological and physical well-being. She has received specialized training with founder Jon Kabat-Zinn in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and is a certified Kripalu yoga instructor. Her dissertation research focused specifically on using mindfulness for helping professionals to prevent burnout.
Experience
Dr. Newsome is co-owner of Wellness Psychology, LLC and a licensed psychologist in the state of Oregon. She received an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Smith College, a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Montana State University and a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from New Mexico State University.
