Dr. Edwards has been a clinical psychologist in Portland, Oregon for over 26 years. Since completing his training in OHSU’s Department of Medical Psychology, he has served as a clinician and consultant to local hospitals, clinics, colleges, and school districts, in addition to operating a private psychology practice.
The origins of his orientation to psychotherapy lie in the Client Centered work of Carl Rogers where empathy, unconditional positive regard, genuineness and acceptance guide the therapeutic pathway toward personal growth.
Along the way he’s studied and practiced studied Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), all of which inform his clinical approach to treatment, and are especially useful in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders.
