Adult Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist – Psych/MH

Approach:

I have helped nurses and other healthcare professionals in my private practice for over a decade. I worked on the frontlines of healthcare in various clinical settings for over 30 years. I am experienced with burnout, trauma, and moral injury that is prevalent in the healthcare system, and the occupational and personal challenges that healthcare professionals face daily.

I have an empathetic and humanistic approach with special interest in the impact of stress on psychology and physiology. My practice is centered on patient advocacy, compassion, empathy, and non-judgmental values. I offer supportive care and consultation to help nurses and other healthcare professionals reach their potential, and live happy and productive lives.

I am also a healthcare information privacy advocate. I’ve worked on issues related to electronic records, health analytics, data integrity, and patient confidentiality. I advocate vigorously on behalf of patient rights.

Experience:

Prior to offering mental health telemedicine in solo practice, I worked in general psychiatry for a primary care practice, a pain management group, and my private, multidisciplinary, group practice. I have extensive experience working with healthcare professionals in psychotherapy, as well as teaching, preceptorship, and mentoring. I worked in a variety of clinical settings from clinical research support at the National Institutes of Health to various in-patient and out-patient settings, substance disorder treatment, crisis teams, as well as private practices. I have extensive experience with attention and learning disorders and a variety of neurological conditions in addition to my background in general psychiatry. I was a certified clinician and mentor in EEG and general biofeedback. I specialized in cardiovascular and respiratory physiology related to stress disorders. I developed a biofeedback – mindfulness based protocol to treat panic disorder and specialized in anxiety disorders and functional medicine.

I have a BA in sociology from Franklin & Marshall College and a BSN from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. I have an MSN from George Mason University School of Nursing and the George Washington University School of Medicine collaborative Nurse Practitioner program. I earned psychiatric and mental health Clinical Nurse Specialist certification from the University of Virginia School of Nursing, where I completed an internship in psychopharmacology under the mentorship of a hospitalist PharmD.

I am trained and experienced in a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities. I am board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatry and Mental Health; I am licensed to practice in Oregon.
